Alternative Indie Rock: How did it start?
Alternative Indie Rock is a variety of alternative rock. It was in 1980s, when it started at the three large countries: The United States, Canada and United Kingdom. The word "indie" is generally used term for independent music, which means it is independent from the authority and assistance of the major labels in terms of music recording, production and publication.

Alternative indie rock mainly exists in the independent underground music scene, its musicians typically control their own music and careers, they release albums and promotes on independent record name, tours, word of mouth or airplay on radio stations.
Famous Alternative Indie Rock Bands and Artists
The typical instruments used by the indie bands are guitar, bass, drums and keyboard which are similar to the alternative rock bands. In the first half of the 1990s the alternative rock bands like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam became popular that they achieved commercial chart success and widespread exposure. Thereafter, the alternative genre became commercialized that it attracted several major record labels. From that, the meaning of the term "alternative" changed from its original which today refers to the alternative music that gained mainstream success and the term indie rock is used to refer bands and genres that remained underground.
