I have to say NOT.

Musically, she was okay when she started but she wasn't all that great. Definitely not in the way Madonna was, and certainly not in the Tina Turner range, either.

Looks-wise, she was nicer-looking before she started going down the sex goddess path, and then she lost me on that level.

To me, boxing is a bit brutal, but even I have watched a few matches.  I still remember the famous Ali-Frazier bout in the Philippines; the Thrilla in Manila.

I had no idea that there were so many good boxers over in the PI.  But then again, Filipinos are a tough people and it shouldn't be surprising.

Myspace has become such a staple to performers.  If someone does not have Myspace they have certainly heard of Myspace.  It is the perfect place to advertise what you are about when you are breaking through in the music industry.  I’ll have to go check you out.  Good Luck!

Not only do new artists have MySpace pages, but also established ones, like Ani Difranco and a few others.  But yeah, I agree that the Internet and social networking sites are a big help to new artists and bands.  I must make a point to check out the Downfall page, too!

I am a Law & Order and a CSI fan; however I have found a new cop thrill I am enthralled by, Criminal Minds.  Criminal Minds presents you with this people that make crazy look sane.  Every Wednesday I am always left thinking, “WHAT?!?!?!  Is there really people in the world like that?”  Anyone else share my new found thrill?
I like Criminal Minds.  Was surprised when Mandy Patinkin left the show, but I think Joe Mantegna is a good replacement.

You mention L&O...which is your favorite of the three shows with L&O titles?

I have been to the local Jazz festival and enjoyed myself, however I do not listen to Jazz on a regular basis.  Give me a day that boarders on cool yet warm weather with Jazz flowing through the air, I will for sure be in attendance.

Cool beans, AusQtie.

I rarely listen to any genre - even my favorites - for long stretches of time.  I'd get bored very fast if I did.

I enjoy it somewhat; it depends on which style of Jazz is being played, and of course, on the artist.  I'd love to see Diana Krall in concert...she's a sultry blonde with a smoky voice and very coool piano technique.

not much of a maddona fan but i think she proves herself as a performer being so famous in her hey day madonna is great so whatever project she will pursue she will be successful.

Like you, I'm not a big "Material Girl" fan, but I do like her work ethic and, of course, some of her songs.  The cone-shaped bras, though, were too much for me.

7  General Category / Site Suggestion / Re: I think a Gospel/Religious section for music would work. on: December 03, 2007, 12:41:39 pm
Yeah, for US members I see, a lot of people there listen to it, although it is not really a common thing on other countries, anyway, that section would be a nice idea anyway Smiley
And if we add Gospel, then it's only fair to add other non-pop genres, no? And I don't think Gospel is so uncommon out of the States....it's just a bit submerged under other nations' unique musical styles.
8  General Category / Site Suggestion / How about something for classical music? on: December 03, 2007, 12:39:11 pm
I know this is way out there as far as topics go, but even though it's not a big popular genre, shouldn't you consider adding a category for classical music, as well?  I mean, if jazz is there, and people are requesting religious/Gospel categories, why not classical?

I love the Law and Order series', especially Criminal Intent and Special Victims Unit. I used to like CSI a lot, but its more about facts than drama.

When I had cable, I'd watch Law and Order every chance I got, and with it being on at least one channel on almost every hour of the day, I'd be stuck in my room for the week.

Ice T is a brilliant actor in SVU, especially when he gets aggressive with people who take the piss. I wonder how many cops consider "You keep your teeth!" a good bargaining chip?
In my house, Law & Order is a way of life.  I like all three of the shows, but I tend to favor the original series.  I wonder how the show will fare in its new time slot (Friday nights) and with Fred Dalton Thompson's departure to run for President.

I have not seen this one yet, but I find the notion of God picking a Congressman to be a latter-day Noah rather amusing.  I also like the casting, partly because I love The 40 Year Old Virgin, and partly because Morgan Freeman is always good to watch.

haha so what does everyone think of Britney Spears now?? although i have to say that i dont mind her new song "gimme more" i prefer the remix though! does anyone know where i can find a video of her at the MTV awards? i've heard so much about it but cant seem to find it anywhere!!  Huh
I don't think Britney is as good as she was when she started out as a singer.  Sorry, but she seems to have surrounded herself with "yes-people" that basically look the other way while she parties her way into oblivion.  Not the mark of a great artist, in my book.
12  Music Genres / Jazz / Blues / Does anyone here listen to jazz or blues? on: December 03, 2007, 12:13:58 pm
....I don't listen to jazz all that much myself, but sometimes it's a great "relaxing" genre of music to listen to, especially after a long day of writing and working on projects.  My fave artists are Nat King Cole, Diana Krall, Chuck Mangione, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, and Count Basie.

Anyone else?
13  Off Topic / TV & Film / Indiana Jones films on: December 03, 2007, 12:07:53 pm
Next May, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, in conjunction with Lucasfilm Ltd and Paramount, will release Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the fourth film which stars Harrison Ford as Henry Jones, Jr. aka Indiana Jones.

Now as a big fan of the first three films, I don't know if a fourth film was necessary, but since the creators of the series are involved and Ford is still watchable, I'm looking forward to IJ4.

Any other fans of the Man in the Hat out there?  Thoughts on Crystal Skull? Favorite Indiana Jones flick?

14  Off Topic / Gaming & Computing / PC games: Your favorite? on: December 03, 2007, 11:54:26 am
I don't own a PlayStation, Xbox, or Wii, and I have no time or interest to get one, yet I do like gaming, especially strategy games and flight sims, with a few Star Wars games tossed in for good measure.

Right now, I love Sid Meier's Civilization IV, although it requires lots of time and I have to shut down my Messengers so they don't interact with the game.

Any PC gamers out there? If there are, c'mon...share your favorite game titles or genres!
15  Off Topic / TV & Film / Favorite Movie Genre on: December 03, 2007, 11:29:31 am
Movies. Most of us watch them.  Most of us love them.

And while we probably like a wide spectrum of films, especially as we mature and our interests become more varied, there's probably that one type of film we tend to gravitate to more than others.  Some of us might like comedies (Bruce Almighty, the Austin Powers series), while others might tend to watch "serious" films along the lines of Howard's End or The Godfather.

So, what's your cinematic cup of tea? Enquiring minds - at least one, anyway - want to know!
